Digitrace is quickly becoming one of the few service centers in the United States still keeping the venerable analyzer alive! We’ve developed procedures to get your analyzer back to work!

Our PowerCal program will:

  • Exercise your analyzer and verify its current state

  • Pull out existing calibration factors and store

  • Modify calibration factors and rewrite to the analyzer

  • Verify that the calibration adjustments were accepted

  • If necessary, guide our technician through a complete crystal alignment

In the event a repair is necessary, we have the expertise to repair these units at a component level, including replacement of the YIG oscillator!

ON SITE CALIBRATION SERVICES

Digitrace is currently capable of calibrating over 900 items of test equipment used by cable television and broadcast television stations throughout the country.

FCC requirements for annual calibration include test equipment used for “Proof of Performance” testing and leakage testing. However, the majority of problems we find are in the field test equipment such as signal level meters and leakage detectors. These units are used in a more harsh environment and have more battery related issues than test equipment used in the head ends.

As your technicians bring their vehicles by the mobile lab, we are able to provide a complete check of the leakage detection system as it is being used every day. Antennas are a prime focus of our attention since they are the weakest link in the detection system.

Battery chargers (wall transformers) are also carefully evaluated when submitted with the meters. We can verify the charger is working properly and it is the correct charger. We have a special tagging system to positively identify chargers which lists all the models for which it was designed.

Our “On Site” services save you time and money when compared to other calibration and repair options. The elimination of “Shipping” and “Insurance” costs combined with a reduction of base calibration charges in the range of 30% to 40% from factory charges allow a system to save approximately half of their normal expenses.

REPAIR SERVICES

It is important for equipment with known problems to be properly identified especially if the problem is intermittent in nature. A unit is only on the bench for a couple of hours and an intermittent problem may not appear during that time.

We maintain as complete an inventory of commonly used components as space on the mobile lab will allow. When problems are encountered which are software related the item must be returned to the factory. Digitrace will not upgrade or install software we are not licensed to handle.

When we estimate the cost of our service will exceed fixed factory rates, we allow the system to elect to return the unit to the factory for repair and calibration. Repairs required to allow calibration to continue are not done without specific permission from system management.

TRACABILITY

All of our calibration test equipment is calibrated according to the specifications put forth by the manufacturers and is traceable to NIST standards.
